A community cafe is offering a pay-what-you-can Christmas lunch for those who are lonely this festive season.
Chard CommuniTea Waffle is hosting the event on Monday, December 23, and all are welcome, although booking in advance is advised.
The three-course Christmas meal is aimed at people who are spending the festive period on their own or who are lonely.
A spokesperson for the cafe said: "We are aware that there are many people on their own in Chard and there are many lonely people of all ages.
"This is one of the core areas that we are trying to help with.
"Loneliness is a big problem in the town which is why we provide a community table where people can sit and chat if they come in by themselves.
"But we felt that we needed to do a little more over the festive period.
"So we came up with the idea of a community 'pay what you can' Christmas dinner.
"This way anyone who is alone or lonely could come along and not worry about the cost, but enjoy a fun Christmas meal with great company."
