BARRONS of Chard men's clothing store, described by ITV News as a staple "institution", have closed shop for the last time after over 40 years of operation in the town.
The owners have decided to retire after 42 years and, in an interview with ITV News have described it as feeling strange and sad but overall they are looking forward to what is to come and feel confident about the future.

The owners wanted to sell the store as an ongoing concern and almost did so successfully but the prospective buyer pulled out last minute, leaving the shop abandoned now.
The shop, previously located on 2 Holyrood St, Chard, TA20 2AH, had a closing down sale over the last two months and closed permanently earlier in November.
The absence of Barrons of Chard leaves questions about whether the future of trade in Chard will be impacted, with business owners already coming forward saying they have seen a decrease in foot traffic - according to ITV News.
Many people are commenting online saying it is sad to walk past the now empty shop.
