AS the sun sets earlier and the first snowflakes of winter fall, Somerset Christmas market season is officially upon us - ‘Tis the time of year for giving after all.
With many people looking to find the perfect stocking fillers, tree toppers and snacks for Santa here are three upcoming Somerset Christmas markets in Yeovil, Chard and Ilminster.
Christmas Market and Animal Blessing
Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Chard is hosting a pet friendly Christmas Market from 10am to 6pm on December 1.
This will include a collection of local stall holders selling hand crafted purrfect treats and a Santa’s Grotto where you can, and your dog can meet Santa Paws himself.
The event will also end in an animal blessing where you can join the Ferne View team and their barn animals at 4pm to witness performances from Somerset Youth Theatre and CLOKs.
The Reverend will also provide a short service, ending with the blessing of all visitor’s pets.

Yeovil Christmas Market
The Yeovil Christmas Market in Yeovil Showground, running from December 15-22, promises to be a seven-day extravaganza including a Christmas shopping village, Santa’s grotto, live music and much more.

Ilminster Christmas Market by Temperley
Where high fashion meets cobbled streets, Ilminster Christmas Market by Temperley is joining the Somerset Christmas Market circuit this year in the Temperley Courtyard and the Market Square.
Starting Thursday, December 5-8 at Temperley London and Ilminster Market House this event will be a great opportunity to buy some unique designer Christmas gifts.
There will also be professional singers setting the mood across the four days and the children at Herne View CofE school will be performing at 2pm on Friday, December 6.
