THIS time of year, always leads to road closures, be it from adverse weather conditions, road works or blocked roads simply due to Christmas Switch On events in town centres.
Regardless of the reasons, here is a quick roundup of four road closures taking place in the local surrounding areas - with some starting today.
Ilminster Town Centre closing tonight
There will be road closures in place for East Street, Love Lane, Frog Lane, North Street, Ile Court and Silver Street will all be in place from 4pm today (November 22) due to the Ilminster Christmas Switch On event.
A spokesperson for Ilminster Council said: "There will be no vehicle movements during those times with the exception of emergency vehicles. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause."

A303 Westbound closing today
Somerset Council have reported on their Roadworks and travel information website that the A303 Westbound is closing today (November 22) due to road works during the night from A3088 (Cartgate Roundabout, Stoke Sub Hamdon) to A356 (Prophet's Lane / Crewkerne turn off, Bower Hinton).
Robins Lane closing for five days
Somerset Council are closing Robins Lane from the junction Love Lane, westwards for a total distance of 67 meters to enable Wessex Water to carry out supply separation works.
The works are set to commence on December 9 and will remain in force until December 13.
Hare Lane closing for three days
Somerset Council are closing the road along Hare Lane, from 110m west of the junction with Pound Road westwards for a total distance of 470 metres to enable the National Grid to replace a decayed electricity pole.
The works are set to start on December 9 until December 11 between the hours of 9:30am to 3.30pm.
