THE first snow of winter has officially fallen, admittedly a month too early but at least we got a somewhat white Christmas build up this year - with snow covering vast areas of Somerset today (Thursday, November 21).
The Met Office forecast snow across the South West, and then issued a yellow weather warning for snow, which came into effect this morning from 5am until 3pm.

Today snow was spotted all over Somerset, with towns like Ilminster getting a fine layer of snow dusting the roofs of houses and cars and towns located in higher regions like Chard received snow as deep as 5cm according to witnesses.
Schools were also forced to close with transportation unable to travel along the “treacherous roads”, with cars being left abandoned across Yeovil and roads like the A30 being affected with delays throughout the day.

Whilst no more snow has been forecast, there remains to be a yellow warning for icy conditions tomorrow (November 22) across the South West, so please be careful when driving.
