Chard Town FC staged a remarkable comeback to salvage a draw in a 10-goal thriller with Stockwood Wanderers.

Having recently endured a series of challenging away games, Chard Town relished their final away trip away of the year.

They were determined to finish on a high note, especially with four upcoming home matches and a local derby against Ilminster on the horizon.

Resting some key players, Chard fielded a strong line-up and kicked off the match in high spirits.

In just the 15th minute, James Boyland showcased his skills, dribbling past the Stockwood keeper and slotting the ball home.

However, the goal seemed to awaken Stockwood Wanderers, who quickly retaliated with an equaliser just three minutes later.

By the 21st minute, Stockwood had taken the lead, heading in from a corner kick as the Chard defence stood by.

Chard found themselves in an offside position shortly after, with Boyland's goal from a saved Olly Board shot being disallowed.

Things took a turn for the worse for the Chard side at the 31-minute mark when a Stockwood player launched a 30-yard shot that found the net, ending the first half with a 3-1 lead for the home team.

Despite the score, Chard remained determined and came back with a quick goal just five minutes into the second half, with Boyland scoring again after a well-placed cross.

Though the goal was rumoured to be an own goal, Boyland claimed it.

Stockwood again retaliated swiftly, bringing the score to 4-2.

Chard responded with an impressive goal from Olly Board, assisted by a fine cross from Conor Fielder, marking Board's first goal for the first team.

However, Stockwood again increased their lead to 5-3 shortly after.

Chard made substitutions, bringing on fresh legs to maintain their competitive edge.

The change paid off when Jordon Clapp, after some great play from Owen Ford, scored to narrow the gap to 5-4.

With just minutes remaining, Clapp had a chance to equalise but hit the bar.

However, a superb cross from Jake Davey found Clapp again, who scored the equaliser just before the final whistle.

The match, played in good spirit and well-managed by referee Rob Taylor, highlighted the commendable team spirit at Chard Town.

In a fortnight, Stockwood Wanderers will visit Zembard Lane for the rematch.

Next week, Yatton and Cleeve United will be the visitors, kicking off at 2pm.
