THE new owners of a High Street building in Chard have transformed it from a once historic guesthouse into a new boutique B&B, renaming and rebranding it "Watermead House".

Located on the High Street, under the new ownership of Gary Birch and Jamie Yee, Watermead House now offers a newly updated contemporary design inside and out - inspired by the original "colourful history" of the building.

Jamie Yee said: "We bought the existing business off the previous owners, who ran it for 26 years.

"We love the period property and saw the potential of transforming it to a boutique BnB.

"We have been making gradual improvements since we took over last September whilst still running it as a guesthouse."

The property includes eight individually styled rooms, outfitted with "premium" furnishings and "state-of-the-art technology".

Each room features Alexa-enabled devices, allowing guests to control the room's lighting with voice commands.

Guest are also provided with digital guest guides, accessible via QR codes, that provide guests with all the information they need on local attractions, local dining options, and allow guests to pre-order their breakfast.

As part of its sustainability ethos, Watermead House also has two on-site EV charging stations.

Co-owner Jamie Yee said: “We are excited to introduce the rebranded Watermead House as a contemporary boutique B&B that brings together style and comfort.

"We have made extensive improvements to the guesthouse, incorporating contemporary designs, technology and sustainability. We want to make every aspect of the guest experience enjoyable and seamless.

"Our renovated property combines elegance, modern amenities, and innovative technology to provide guests with a uniquely sophisticated experience in a welcoming setting.”
