A RED flood alert has been issued this morning (Saturday, 19 October) for property flooding at Chard Junction, Axe Farm, Coaxdon and Weycroft Cottages, Mosterton, Clapton, Tytherleigh and Broom, Axminster (Stoneybridge).
Heavy rain falling in the East Devon area overnight has caused the River Axe to rise.
The Environment Agency said: “Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. People in this area should consider taking action now and install any property flood resilience measures.”
“Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Saturday afternoon, or earlier if the situation changes.”
Flood warning area: riverside locations and roads between Winsham and Axminster, including Chard Junction, Coaxden Cottages and Weycroft.
