A CHARD shop's CCTV has captured the moment a "very brave" customer thwarted an "attempted theft" at the computer repairs business.
The video from October 2 shows a woman picking up and appearing to hide a phone accessory in her jacket while the shop owner is distracted by her accomplice, who is seeking "tech support".
Another customer waiting to be served notices the woman's actions and is quick to speak up, telling the woman: "Oi, take it out. Come on."
Will Smith, who took over SMS PC Repairs ten years ago, said: "Nothing has happened until the past year, we've had two attempted break-ins and then this. We've had the cameras there as a prevention.
"The [heroic customer's] son contacted me over Facebook, but she's not one for the limelight and would prefer to remain unnamed."
Explaining what her actions meant to his small business, Will said: "It is very brave of her and great for her to stand up. Not enough people in these situations do stand up and speak out.
"It was fantastic, really nice to see someone standing up for a small business, especially one of our customers."
Megan Etheridge from SMS PC Repairs said: "We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to this customer for their courageous actions."
