Chard 3rds started their new league campaign with a win against Isca 7ths.
The match, held at Isca's home ground, marked Chard's debut in the Riviera 2 league.
Chard emerged victorious with a score of 2-1, thanks to debutant Archie Parris, who scored both of the team's goals in the first half.
Both goals came from quick counterattacks following Isca's loss of possession.
The first goal saw Flynn Bowie play a crucial role in the build-up, intercepting the ball in midfield and passing it to Phil Hunt, who then set up Parris to score from close range.
Parris then doubled the lead, scoring from a few yards out.
Despite Isca's promising approach play, they struggled to find cohesion in the final third during the first half.
However, the start of the second half saw a change in fortunes for Isca, as they began to control play in midfield.
Their confidence grew after scoring from a follow-up to a penalty corner, increasing their dominance in the game.
Chard, however, found themselves under increasing pressure and started giving the ball away too often.
Goalkeeper Luke Bradshaw made several important saves to keep Isca at bay.
Chard's luck changed due to the bravery of Bowie.
When Isca's young winger set up a close-range chance, his flick shot beat Bradshaw but struck Bowie on the head, deflecting wide.
Isca then missed the resulting penalty flick.
Chard, buoyed by their escape, managed to regain control in the closing minutes and finished the match pressing for a third goal.
