FIVE people were rescued from a car that “was on its side” after a single-vehicle collision in Chard.

The collision took place yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, September 4) at around 3.53pm A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire engines were sent to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision.

“On arrival crews confirmed this vehicle was on its side, with five people still inside.

“Crews released small tools and hydraulic equipment to remove all people from the vehicle.

“One casualty was dealt with by the ambulance crews.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 3.46pm on Wednesday, September 4 to a road traffic collision in Chard.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital”.
