FERNE Animal Sanctuary is appealing for volunteers to join the centre, with lots of job "pawsitions" that need filling.

The sanctuary in Wambrook, Chard, needs help caring for the animals, as well as fundraising and guiding visitors around the centre.

A spokesperson for the sanctuary said: "Calling all animal lovers! Ferne Animal Sanctuary Needs you!

"Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of our furry and feathered residents? If so, we'd love to have you join our pack of dedicated volunteers

"We have lots of different pawsitions you could fill including: Helping care for the animals; raising money for our charity in one of shops; fundraising; visitor centre and onsite shop; engaging with children in our Creative Corner; maintaining our Sanctuary on estates; becoming a driver's assistant; and exploring the Sanctuary with visitors as an animal and sanctuary guide.

It added: "Our rescue centre is a friendly and inclusive environment where everyone is welcome! [Pride Flag]

"To ensure the safety of our volunteers, please note we do have age requirements for a lot of our roles.

"If you're ready to make a difference to the lives of animals when they need it most, please fill out our form on the website ferneanimalsanctuary.org/support-us/volunteering-at-ferne."

A recent addition to Ferne Sanctuary is Dizzy, a 14-year-old Spaniel, who is hard of hearing and very underweight. She arrived with a urinary tract infection and indicators of some other inflammation in her body.

The sanctuary added: "She will be with us until we have a full diagnosis. Dizzy is absolutely adorable and we will be doing everything we can to ensure her twilight days are comfortable and her tummy is full."

Dizzy is just one example of the types of animals that need the support of Ferne Animal Sanctuary. Visit their social media to learn more.
