The Candlelight in Bishopswood is closed for a week as from Monday (July 15), as the transfer of new landlords takes place.
Owners thanked the members of their team and their customers and said that they 'have had a blast' running the pub for the past eight years. They say 'they cant wait to hand over the pub to someone new.'
The pub was closed for a few weeks as from July 15, for a makeover and the change over in ownership.
The Candlelight, Blackdown Hills is a 17th century, multi-award winning, 2 AA Rosette country pub, set in the heart of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Candlelight was ranked in the top 10 best pubs in Somerset, by The Guardian.
The team proudly serves locally sourced, seasonal food including produce grown at The Candlelight and foraged from the Blackdown Hills.
In a post on Facebook on Monday, they said: "It’s been a blast yesterday was our last day at the Candlelight.
"As we bid you all farewell, Simon and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who we’ve met, the customers we’ve served and the friends we have made. The last 8 years are full of fond memories that we will cherish forever.
"We couldn’t have achieved so much without our team, past and present. Your work ethic is relentless, the banter has always been fierce! But most of all we’ve been a family working together
"It’s been an honour looking after the Candlelight, she’s a beauty and we hope you continue to enjoy many more happy times with her."
The pub will now be closed for a few weeks as we await the arrival of the new landlords. Watch this space!
For now though, it’s a fond goodbye from us. Take care x
