Pupils at Thorncombe School near Chard have been awarded the Gold Mark Award in the 2023/24 School Games.
They say they are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year.
A spokesman for the school said: "We achieved bronze last year, and were hoping for silver, so gold is a huge success! The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year."
The School Games Mark silver and gold awards are available to those schools that want to challenge themselves and demonstrate their progress over time against a national benchmark. For those schools that have engaged over a number of years, and/or have previously attained the School Games Mark platinum award, they will be asked to demonstrate in more detail the impact and difference they are making.
