The Chard Girlguiding group is appealing for funds to replace all its mouldy tents ahead of its annual summer camp.
Chard’s Guide unit discovered that all its tents were “mouldy and unusable” on Monday, June 3, after preparing for its summer trip to West Midlands Safari Park, which is just eight weeks away.
Charlotte Rogers wrote on the Just Giving page: “I am a Guide leader at 2nd Chard Guides. We have a full enthusiastic unit of girls aged between 10-13 and a ranger unit of girls aged 14+.
“We are looking forward to taking them away to the Midlands to enjoy our annual summer camp. We are camping next to the West Midlands Safari Park and will be offering activities onsite as well as swimming and a day in the safari park.
“In preparation, we got our tents out this evening to check them but found all the sleeping tents to be mouldy and unusable. This is a huge costly blow. We now need to either borrow or fundraise for new tents. Please give what you can to support us!”
The Chard Girlguiding group has a fundraising goal of £3,000 for the new tents, so far £30 has been raised. Their cause can be supported at gofundme.com/f/help-us-replace-our-tents-for-summer-camp.
