HERE is a list of events taking place in Chard to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Events on June 6 will start at 8am with the proclamation read by the town crier from the Guildhall balcony.
At 9am there will be the raising of the flag of peace at the Guildhall.
At 11am Pupils will read the D-Day Heroes poem in schools
At 6.30pm ‘Ringing out for peace’ at St Mary’s Church
At 7pm Entertainment/exhibitions at the Beacon with live music from Bethany Goodman.
There will also be various displays, including Chard Museum, Chard Girlguides, Helmestedt Society, and more.
The international tribute is to be read at around 9pm.
The official Beacon lighting time is 9.15pm.
