A NEWLY formed, Chard-based carnival club has organised a series of fundraising events while it gets ready to join its first procession.

The Misfits Carnival Club, based at Chard Junction and established in December last year by owners Carol Watt and Tim Crawley, will join its first carnival in Seaton in September.

They are currently building the carnival carts and are using the shows they will soon join for fundraising.

Steve Beasley-Cook, one of the members of the club, said the money will be used to build the carts and get them on the road.

He also said: “We are holding many vehicle events at our build site at Chard Junction.

“The first is a classic and custom vehicle show on May 26. We have a huge range of vehicles attending this show from all over Somerset, Dorset, and Devon.

“We have a wide range of trade stalls, Catering, live music, bars, and even some vehicles that we have invited like Aint No Saint which is a Drag car that won the Hot Wheels legend tour and was made into a model car in 2023.

“We also have drag and sprint bikes, Hot rods and American muscle cars, classic and vintage vehicles from tractors to motorcycles.

“Our main supporter of this event is West Country Choppers who will be bringing their merchandise to sell and some cool bikes to show off.

“All classic and modern-day classics are welcome and it's only run off of donations to the carnival club.

“This show is open to the public and the best bit is there are no big entrance fees, donations only so the whole family can attend and we have a massive public car park for onsite parking.

“We also have a trailer park so all show vehicles can attend. The show opens at 10am to the public and closes at 5pm. Hope to see you all there.”
