Chard Ladies 1s started their season with defeat against Weston-super-Mare 1s.

The hardball T20 match took place on Sunday, May 19.

A 35-run difference separated both sides, with Weston securing 104-5 from 20 overs, and Chard lagging with 69-7 from their own 20 overs.

It also saw an impressive performance from Lucie Hopkins, one of Chard Ladies 1s' bowlers, who delivered 3-18 from her 4 overs.

Additionally, Izzy Pritchard provided a noteworthy spell of 2-9 off 4 overs, and Arabella Reid bowled commendably, earning 0-14 from her 4 overs.

Despite their best efforts and Julie Saxby's success behind the stumps, Chard's response fell short.

While Chard Sunday A team also found themselves on the losing side against Yeovil Royal Blasters by 188 runs.

Yeovil proved their worth as they scored 275 runs.

Chard's captain Luke Morgan and Riley Hull were the standout bowlers for the team.

Chard fought back with Harvey Evans and Trevor Priddle scoring 22 and 16 runs, respectively, but their efforts were not enough to catch up to Yeovil's robust lead.

Meanwhile, May 18 saw a slew of cancellations due to weather, resulting in the abandonment of matches between Chard 1s and Yeovil 1s, as well as planned games involving North Perrott 2s and Huish & Langport 1s.
