AN ANIMAL sanctuary has received two boxes containing cats which were found near a hedge by a woman who was walking her dog.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary said the woman came in with three cats of which two are around one year old.
The other one is around two or three, a spokesperson for the sanctuary said, none are microchipped and at least one is pregnant.
The spokesperson also said: “We had some amazing ladies come in with two boxes containing cats.
“One of the ladies was walking her dogs, one of the dogs went off into the hedge and she had to go find him. What she found was a sealed box of cats.
“The box was soddened with urine, so she took it home and gave the cats some food then brought them to us.
“These poor cats were so lucky to be found. They were not placed somewhere they were likely to be spotted but would more likely starve to death.
“Given the condition they are in, this wouldn't have taken long.
“They have been very neglected, are extremely underweight, and are riddled with fleas not to mention terrified.
“Thank goodness for the kind heart who brought these cats in. There really are no words for this.
“Any contributions to helping us get these innocent souls back on their feet would be greatly appreciated.”
