A FORMER deputy headteacher has re-joined a school in Chard as the new head of the institution.
Chard Prep School is delighted to announce the appointment of Becky Pielesz as the new head of school.
Mrs Pielesz previously was deputy headteacher and head of maths from 2018 to 2023.
In her message to families, Mrs Pielesz expressed her excitement about returning to Chard Prep School and conveyed her gratitude to the dedicated staff, parents, and governors for their outstanding work over the past four months.
With over 21 years of experience in education and leadership roles, Mrs Pielesz brings a wealth of expertise and a strong commitment to nurturing every child's potential.
Her educational philosophy emphasises creating a stimulating and nurturing environment that fosters wonder, excitement, and curiosity, ultimately empowering children to shape their futures based on their aspirations.
She said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be returning to Chard Prep School as head of school.
“This school holds a special place in my heart, and I am deeply committed to its success.
“Having been part of this community previously, I understand what the school needs to thrive, and I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every child can excel and feel valued.”
Mrs Pielesz has big plans for the school’s future and she has already recruited specialist subject teachers.
She added: “We offer a unique prep school experience. Unlike most prep schools, our pupils benefit from being taught maths, science, English, art, drama, music, PE, humanities, and IT by specialist subject teachers.
“From year two, they move from class to class to experience their lessons in a dedicated subject classroom.”
Outlining her plans for the upcoming term, notable initiatives include reintroducing her very successful grammar school preparation programme, creating a distinguished ‘showcase year’ experience for the year six pupils, and enhancing the dining experience to foster a more enjoyable social environment for pupils and staff at lunchtime - focusing on conversation, enjoyment of nutritious food and practising etiquette.
Plans for the future also include a residential programme, leavers' celebrations, visiting theatre productions, and various fundraising events, demonstrating Mrs.
Pielesz's commitment to providing a vibrant and holistic experience for pupils across all year groups.
To align with Chard Prep School’s vision to create a more accessible and affordable independent school for all, the governors of Chard Prep School are pleased to announce that they have decided not to increase the school fees for 2024/25.
Families thinking of joining Chard Prep School are also reminded that the current 30 per cent fee reduction promotion for the first 12 months will soon expire.
To take advantage of this offer, children must be registered by Friday, 24 May.
