THE Chard community observed a two-minute silence and held a Remembrance parade and service last weekend to honour those who fought for us.
A message from Chard Town Council said: “A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Remembrance events in Chard, both yesterday and today [Saturday 11 and Sunday 12].
“Despite the rain, we had so many groups in attendance that are integral to Chard's community.
“Thanks to the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Somerset and the Vice Chair of Somerset Council for joining us in Chard today, as we remembered those who fought for us.
“Thank you to Rev. Georgina Vye for leading the Service of Remembrance.
“Also, an important thank you to Chard Carnival club for marshalling the road closure for the parade and ensuring the safety of all involved. The events would not be possible without them.”
