21 members of the Cricket St Thomas Golf Club entered the 3 man Texas Scramble competition on Wednesday.
With course maintenance in progress, the tournament was played on temporary greens which encouraged some low scoring.
The team of Paul England, James Siabi & John Sweet returned a net score of 54 to claim first place with Bob Rees, Phil Hunt & Richard Holmes runners up on net 56.
The Seniors match team travelled to Yeovil the same day to compete with the Yeovil seniors. In fine weather, and the course in good condition, the Saints team suffered a defeat in game 1 when Andy Rowland & Derek Gardener lost by 2 & 1.
Keith Hunt & Bob Shelley won game 2 by 2 & 1, followed by a win at game 3 when Peter Spencer- Farr & Alan Chance also winning by 2 & 1.
Mark Cording & Jim Laughlan lost by 2 & 1 at game 4 which levelled the match. With Chris Gingell & Roger Davis beating their rivals by 5 & 3 at game 5, the Saints needed a half to win the match, but Martyn Bargery & Barrie Heath lost the final game by 4 & 3 and the match finished all square at 3 - 3.
The seniors finished their week on Friday with a three man "waltz" competition. In a tight finish, John Wandless; Bob Denett & Bob Rees claimed victory having returned a score of 83 points.
Three teams finished on 81 points with Chris Gingell; Mark Barry & Keith Hunt as runners up having a better back 9.
