THE CEO of Ferne Animal Sanctuary has completed a 46-mile walk in 24 hours and raised over £1000 in vital funds.

Kevan Hodges joined the ‘Ferne 2 Ferne’ challenge and walked 46 miles between Ferne’s original location in Wiltshire to the present site of the sanctuary in Somerset raising £1,328.

The same journey all the sanctuary animals would have taken back in 1975 when the sanctuary relocated.

Kevan’s journey began on Tuesday, June 20 at 11.30am today at the Ferne Park estate on the border between Wiltshire and Dorset, and saw him travel through Birdbush and on towards Shaftesbury; going via East Stour and Lower Nylan, he then headed through Henstridge.

Chard & Ilminster News:

Kevan also walked around Milborne Port and during that part of his journey he said: “I am feeling good, but it is starting to take its toll, particularly over the last couple of hours.

“But every step I take is for a great cause and it’s important to just keep going.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me so far, it means a lot for me and the animals at the sanctuary.

“If you can, please continue to support me by spreading the word and sharing the Just Giving link as much as possible.”

Kevan moved from Milborne Port to Sherborne for an overnight stay. On the second day, he started off towards Yeovil, and then on through West Coker, Haselbury Plucknet, and Crewkerne.

The final stretch took him through Roundham, Cricket St Thomas, and Chard, finishing at Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s current location.

Every step helped him raise funds to provide vital care, shelter, and love to those who deserve it most.

Kevan's target is £3,000. Anyone who would like to show their support by donating, can visit the online fundraising page here
