A HEADTEACHER has thanked students and families “who are the lifeblood of the school” after the latest inspection that took place 10 years after the previous one.
Holyrood Academy in Chard was rated ‘Good’ after a recent Ofsted inspection.
When inspected 10 years ago, “the school was judged ‘Outstanding’ under a previous inspection framework in use at the time”.
Headteacher, Dave MacCormick, said: “It has been 10 years since the last inspection at Holyrood and the school has been through a range of changes and challenges in that time.
“Despite a significantly more rigorous inspection framework than when the school was last inspected in 2013 and the small matter of a global pandemic, the recent inspection confirmed what we already know: that Holyrood is a good school.
“We are delighted with the outcome of the inspection, and I would like to thank the fantastic students and families who are the lifeblood of the school.
“I would also like to pay tribute to our incredibly dedicated and talented staff who have brought about significant improvement at the school over the past three years in particular.
“It is an honour and a privilege to lead this school and I look forward to working with the community to improve the school further so that it is the best school it can be.”
Lorraine Heath, CEO of Uffculme Academy Trust, of which Holyrood Academy is part, said: “We are delighted that the hard work of Mr MacCormick and his team has been recognised in this report.
“In the three years that Holyrood has been part of UAT, the improvements that have been made to the experience of students at the school have been impressive.
“I am confident that the school is in excellent hands and look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength.”
