A CIVIC Service will be hosted by The Mayor of Chard Cllr Jenny Kenton on St. George’s Day, on April 23.
The theme will be “dragon parade” and she wishes to invite members of the community to come and either take part (bring your own dragon, the bigger the better) or simply enjoy the spectacle, as local groups and children parade with their dragons starting from the Guildhall, leading to St Mary’s Church.
The parade leaves approx at 2:30pm and the service will commence at 3:00pm. The Mayor is also offering dragon making craft workshops, working alongside local artist Vera Courinha Marques.
This is primarily aimed at children and will take place on Saturday April 22 from 10.30am until 12.30pm in the Guildhall.
A spokesperson said: "This provides an opportunity for the community to come together and create a dragon if they wish to be involved in the parade, but don’t have a dragon. This is a completely free event and all are very much welcome."
