SOUTH Somerset residents are being invited to an online event to discuss fibre broadband provision in the area.
South Somerset District Council (SSDC) is inviting residents and businesses to join them on Zoom for their ‘Meet your Broadband Providers’ event on Thursday, March 16 at 2.30pm.
Speakers will include Connecting Devon and Somerset, Wessex Internet, Jurassic Fibre and Gigaclear.
This is a free opportunity for people to meet the South Somerset Broadband Providers to better understand where fibre broadband is being delivered now and in the future.
Connecting Devon and Somerset is a local government-led partnership which helps to deliver next-generation broadband infrastructure to areas where the market has failed to invest.
This free event is open to everyone and there will be opportunities to pose questions to the panel.
Councillor John Clark, portfolio holder for Economic Development said: “Most of us use digital connectivity every day and it is increasingly important for both businesses and individuals.
“South Somerset District Council is committed to supporting South Somerset communities and businesses to get online and are working closely with infrastructure providers and Connecting Devon and Somerset to achieve this.
“We appreciate that some individuals will not yet be able to access an online event, which is why we are calling all business organisations, community groups, county, district, town, and parish councillors to join us in spreading the word on what is available to businesses and residents in South Somerset.”
