Road closures in and around South Somerset

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A303, from 8pm December 8 2021 to 6am March 31, 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Sparkford to Ilchester improvement scheme.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A303, from 8pm February 1 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 West Camel traffic lights in place for Wessex Water works.

• A303, from 8pm February 1 to 6am February 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 westbound, Podimore lane closure for barrier repairs.

• A303, from 8pm February 2 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 both directions Wincanton lane closures for barrier repairs.

• A303, from 8pm February 3 to 6am February 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 eastbound, Prophets Lane to Percombe Hill, lane closure with no access to Martock exit and entry slip road for horticultural works, diversion via eastbound, traffic to Cartgate and return, westbound, traffic to South Petherton and return.

• A303, from 9pm February 7 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 both directions Podimore to Sparkford lane closure and traffic signals for Sparkford to Ilchester improvement scheme.

• A303, from 8am February 13 to 4pm February 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Stoke Sub Hamden to Ilchester used as a diversion for Somerset County Council closure of A3088.

• A303, from 9pm February 13 to 6am February 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Podimore to Sparkford traffic signals for Sparkford to Ilchester improvement scheme.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
