SOME of the world's best and most popular traditional jazz sounds come to Ilminster this Friday (16 December) - the perfect way to warm your hearts and get into the festive swing.

Ilminster Arts Centre is hosting 'Kenny Ball's Greatest Hits', the official tribute to the British jazz legend and bandleader who had a string of chart-topping hits from the 1960s onwards, including Midnight in Moscow, Samantha, March of the Siamese Children, Sukiyaki and When I'm Sixty-Four.

The tribute will be performed by the Ian Bateman Big Band. Ian, a top trombonist, was a member of Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen and also played with jazz maestro Acker Bilk and many other world-renowned performers.

The organisers said “it promises to be a night to remember”.

The concert starts at 8pm. Doors open from 6.30pm with a licensed cash bar.

Tickets are £20 and can be booked by calling 01460 54973, emailing performances@ilminsterarts.org.uk and leaving your telephone number, or purchased at the door.

Concert-goers will also be able to enjoy the free-to-enter Christmas Craft Exhibition in the main gallery.
