THE Chard Christmas lights switch-on event will take place this Saturday (November 26) and will feature “the biggest display so far”.
The event, organised by Chard Town Team, will run from 6.30pm to 8pm and will feature craft stalls markets, children’s rides, a Santa’s Grotto, as well as food and drinks stalls.
The Chard Town Team worked hard over recent months to get the ambitious display ready for the night.
Jason Baker, a member of the team, said the group has been busy "preparing and repairing" the town's Christmas lights.
He also said: “Every year we add more lights. This is our biggest display so far. I am looking forward to it.”
Last year’s edition featured a Christmas market and around 30 stalls.
The Majorettes also joined the event and the mini town crier and the Chard Carnival royalty also took part.
Following last year’s event, Mr Baker said: "It was great to see the town busy all day with people in the shops and Christmas market.
"The town was full of families all waiting to see Santa arrive on his sleigh and the amazing Christmas lights display being turned on.
"I am pleased to say that it was another great event in our town centre.
"It is lovely to see these events taking place and shows what a great town we live in with a great community spirit."
