THE head of a primary school in Chard has shared a message to reflect on her nine weeks of headship.
Jessica Evans, head of school, at Thorncombe St Mary’s Primary Academy, said she “continue to feel blessed” as she entered her ninth week of headship.
She also said: “My teaching career began on the Wirral before moving to the Devon/Dorset area in 2015.
“I have been working within the Acorn Multi Academy Trust ever since.
“Thorncombe St Mary’s joined our Trust in 2021 and I worked closely with the school as part of my English Lead role.
“From the first day at Thorncombe, I fell in love with the family feel of the school. I was blown away by the expansive grounds and outdoor provision that it has to offer. I didn’t want to leave.
“As I enter my ninth week of headship, I continue to feel blessed to work in a school where happiness and warmth radiate in abundance.
“Being part of a small, rural school means that every child is known to its dedicated and enthusiastic team.
“Each member of this team is deeply committed to nurturing and enabling every child to thrive and achieve their full potential.
“We believe in providing the best education for young people and nurturing every individual’s unique talents so that they can live life in all its fullness.
“Children deserve the best possible opportunities to help them develop all the skills they will need for their futures.
“We strive to instill curiosity, collaboration, and risk-taking within a child’s learning so that they can develop a thirst for learning and acquiring new knowledge that will stay with them throughout their lives.
“Thorncombe St Mary’s has a pre-school setting on site that welcomes children from the age of two; this is open five days a week.
“Wraparound care for working parents is provided through our breakfast and after-school clubs each day.
“We are proud to be a feeder school for Woodroffe Secondary School.
“If you are considering a school for your child, we would welcome the opportunity to show you around our school so that you can experience our community for yourself.”
