AN ILMINSTER-based florist was “over the moon” after being nominated for the Best Florist of the Year Awards.
Caitlin Anning-Pile, who works at Cottage Flowers, Jordans Courtyard, has been shortlisted for the Under 30’s Best Florist of the Year Awards, sponsored by The Florist Trade Magazine and Good Florist Guide.
The awards are given to young florists who have demonstrated great achievement in their chosen careers and are the only ones to focus on the new generation of talent in the industry.
Caitlin has worked at Cottage Flowers for two years. Work experience whilst she was at school provided her with the impetus to pursue a career in floristry, which has already been rewarded with several medals.
Caitlin said: “I am delighted that my work has been recognised and I am grateful for the advice and encouragement I have had from my employer, Angie Blackwell. I enjoy the challenge that working with flowers brings and I think that my speciality is weddings and, in particular, setting up a Moon Gate display of flowers for the happy couple.”
You can watch Caitlin demonstrate her skills at a festive flower demonstration, which is being organised by Cottage Flowers and held at The Warehouse Theatre, Ilminster on Friday, November 11 from 9.30am to 1.00pm.
The event is in aid of Ilminster’s Christmas lights.
Tickets are £15 and available from Cottage Flowers, telephone number 01460 53020.
