A SOMERSET-based blended cheese supplier is celebrating awards success this week after two of its cheeses won Gold, and two won Bronze at the British Cheese Awards.
Norseland, which is based in Ilchester, has recently won four awards.
Marmite Cheddar, which is the perfect blend of Ilchester Cheddar Cheese with the nation's beloved spread, Marmite, won Gold in the Blended–Savoury category of the awards, while the much-loved spicy cheese Mexicana, which blends the smooth taste of Ilchester Cheddar Cheese with jalapeño, bell and chilli peppers, won gold in the Blended–with garlic, pepper and chilli category.
The two bronze awards for Norseland went to the Ilchester Wensleydale with Cranberries in the Blended–Sweet category and Applewood®, the UK's number one smoky cheese, won bronze in the Blended ¬- Smoked category.
Talking about the awards' success Lisa Harrison, marketing manager for Norseland, said: "It is a real boost to have our cheeses recognised by the prestigious judges at the British Cheese Awards, which is the UK's leading cheese and dairy products awards.
"This is the first award for our Marmite Cheddar, which launched last year, and we are over the moon about it. Let's hope it is the first of many for our Marmite Cheddar."
The Marmite Cheddar is available to buy in Waitrose and its RRP is £2.40 for 180g; Applewood and Mexicana are stocked by Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Ocado and Iceland. Mexicana is also available to buy in Aldi.
