A SOMERSET-based company is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Protexin in South Petherton (now known as ADM Protexin Limited), renowned for its innovative, research-based, natural healthcare and live bacteria supplements, will be hosting a celebratory event on Tuesday, October 11 to commemorate 30 years of success.
Honouring the hard work and dedication of their staff, the event will be held at their Head Office in Somerset to pay homage to their roots and recognise the longstanding progress and achievements the company has enjoyed over the years.
The company was founded in Somerset, UK in 1992 after recurrent instances of diarrhoea-infected local cattle led to extensive research into the benefits of expired yoghurt as a form of treatment, after antibiotics failed to work.
Working alongside probiotics expert, Dr Roy Fuller, the benefits of using bacteria in yoghurt to stop digestive issues were identified and led to the production of a 9-strain formula for the relevant animal species.
These findings led to the production of Protexin, with early use centred around agricultural application in the UK before vets prescribed it for companion animals.
Further research led to the creation of a range of scientifically proven live bacteria supplements for human use, which has since become an award-winning global brand. Acquired by ADM in 2018, Protexin is acclaimed for its healthcare supplements for human, pet and production-animal use, with distribution in over 90 countries.
As one of the world’s largest nutrition companies, they own leading global gut health brands including Bio-Kult® and Lepicol®. They continue to manufacture all products in their own purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Somerset, where the company was born and developed.
The commemorative event will be attended by senior global brand leaders, including the Senior Vice President, the President of ADM’s Nutrition business unit, and the company’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Vincent Macciocchi.
The celebration will recognise the exponential growth ADM Protexin has experienced over the past few years, which now employs over 200 staff, and has since expanded into key markets including US, China, and Australia, all of which signify the start of an exciting new era for the company.
Richard Moore, managing director of ADM Protexin, said: “This is a monumental occasion for ADM Protexin, to be celebrating 30 years of success in the business.
“This event is open to all staff to thank them for their involvement, as well as local industry press who have featured and supported ADM Protexin over the years.
“We cannot wait to see what the next 30 years have in store for us and look forward to working with our current team and welcoming new people on board for this exciting journey.”
