ILMINSTER Carnival returned last weekend after two years and celebrated its 100th anniversary.

On Saturday, October 1, the procession started at 7.15pm from Bay Hill, then continued onto East Street, Silver Street, West Street, Station Road, and finished on the roundabout near The Stonemasons pub.

The children’s procession took place on Saturday, September 24.

Ilminster Carnival Committee Facebook page shared a message to thank everyone involved in the event and announce thre results: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who entered our 100th Anniversary Ilminster Carnival Procession and put on a great show. It’s been fantastic to finally be back.”

This year’s event raised more than £3000 and the committee also shared a message to thank everyone who donated: “Ilminster Carnival Committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and donated at last night’s carnival.

“It was a hugely successful night enjoyed by all. We are pleased to say we collected £3745 last night. Thank you to everyone who helped count all the money this morning and also to all the collectors/collecting vehicles.”
