A FAMOUS composer is coming to lead a “Singing Day” in the beautiful surroundings of the parish church in South Petherton, near Yeovil.
South Somerset Choral Society’s president Bob Chilcott will lead the event on October 15.
SSCS’s musical director, Tim Donaldson, said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting one of my musical heroes.
“It’s a fabulous opportunity for choral singers of all abilities to meet and work with one of the UK's finest choral conductors and composers, and I know it’s going to be a great day.”
The date is Saturday, October 15.
It all kicks off with registration at 9.30am and runs until 4pm.
There will be breaks along the way, and we will finish with an informal performance for families and friends at about 3.30pm.
We will be learning music from Bob's own "Gloria" and "The Song of Harvest", and music to sing from will be provided.
Tickets are £25 (there’s a discount for 18-21s) and include tea or coffee during morning and afternoon breaks.
They’re bound to be popular, so early booking is advised.
Anyone who sings is invited to come along and experience working under Bob’s skilled direction and take the opportunity to learn some new music.
