THE annual Tatworth and District Show celebrated its Diamond Anniversary on 20th August with a wonderful show of fruits, flowers, vegetables, arts, and crafts.
After two years’ absence owing to Covid, the community enjoyed the varied and interesting efforts of local growers, gardeners, and country crafts- men and women, accompanied by delicious afternoon teas.
The show was held in the Tatworth Memorial Hall, which was fragrant with flowers, and included a Jubilee theme.
Plenty of fruits and vegetables, including huge leeks, onions, marrows, and a monster cabbage – a fantastic display considering the dry weather recently.
There were also photographs, paintings, toys, and crafts, including the junior section.
After judging, cups were awarded by Richard Down, chair of the parish council as follows:
- Jack Turner Memorial Cup: Peter Rowley
- Shield: Peter Rowley
- Coleridge Rose Bowl: Peter Rowley
- Everett Cup: Doreen Toms
- Tatworth Fruit Farms Trophy: Susan Cox
- Tatworth Tray: Judy Holman
- Cook Trophy: Mary Ward/Eric Peadon/Polly Mulligan
- Iris Trophy: John Taylor
- M J Jeans Cup: Susan Cox
- St Ivel Cup: Pearl Phillips
- Members Cup: Susan Cox
- Committee Cup: Eric Peadon

The Tatworth Horticultural Society continues to meet on the third Thursday of the month, 7.30pm in the Tatworth Memorial Hall, with a range of speakers in the coming months.
