THE Horton Flower Show returned after two years last weekend.
The event was “very successful” and secretary Stuart Davey said: “We had another very successful Horton Flower Show on Saturday, August 13. Thank you to all of you who exhibited at this year's flower show.
“The number of adults and young person exhibitors and exhibits was down on 2019 but on the upside, after a two-year gap, we had first-time exhibitors both in adult exhibitors and young person’s sections.
“The air-conditioned hall looked very colourful with all your wonderful exhibits of fruit, flowers, vegetables, cooking, and crafts.
“Thank you to all who helped me on Friday afternoon to prepare the hall and extra thanks to Annie Glibbery, Tony England, Jill Venus, and Aly Welch laying out of the hall and the spacing for the exhibits.
“Thanks to Jill Venus and Gill Grafton for writing out the winning certificates and of course Annie Glibbery and Tony England for helping me organise the show.
“Horton and District W.I. for providing the teas and all the delicious cakes a big thank you and they were kept extremely busy all afternoon.
“Many thanks to Ken, Shirley White, and Jackie Moulding for selling raffle tickets and Derek Butterfield for running the 50/50 draw. “Derek Swain and Peter Bindon for manning the donations bucket.
"Thank You Katrina Casley for helping me with the trophy winners.
“The plants for the Ding Gardening Club fuchsia display outside the Hall were gifted by the club to its members in the spring, thank you all for your support.
“Many thanks to Roger Doughty for taking the photographs, which will soon be available on the Horton Village Hall website.
“Thanks to all who stayed on Saturday to pack everything away at the end of the show and set up the tables and chairs for Sunday's service.
“I would like to thank all the judges for their time and expertise in judging the exhibits.
“All the stewards for helping me and all who attended the show and anyone else I may have forgotten.
“Well done everyone for another successful Flower Show and a reminder that the next Flower Show is on Saturday, August 12, 2023.”
