A TRIO of acclaimed musicians will play in Ilminster and Crewkerne in September.
Fenella Humphreys (violin), Cara Berridge (cello), and Daniel Grimwood (piano) will be in South Somerset on Friday, September 2, and Saturday, September 3.
On Friday, September 2 the trio will be at Ilminster Arts Centre, 7.30pm; while on Saturday, September 3, they will be at The Dance House, Crewkerne at 7.30pm.
Fenella Humphreys, winner of the 2018 BBC Music Magazine Instrumental Award, has won critical admiration and audience acclaim with the grace and intensity of her playing.
She is frequently broadcast on the BBC, Classic FM, Scala Radio, and international radio stations.
Her album of Sibelius’ solo works with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and George Vass has been featured in BBC Radio 3’s Building a Library, and was Album of the Week on Scala Radio.
In 2022 she released an EP with violist Shiry Rashkovsky on the new October House Records label which was featured on BBC Radio 3’s New Music Show, and her album ‘Caprices’ for Rubicon Classics was hailed ‘technically and musically superb’ by The Strad.
Cara Berridge is a founder member of the Sacconi Quartet who have won prizes at many International competitions and have performed at all the major London venues including Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Conway Hall.
A versatile musician, Cara enjoys playing with various chamber orchestras, Ensemble Perpetuo, and recording music for films and TV programmes.
With a repertoire ranging from Elizabethan Virginal music to the works of living composers, Daniel Grimwood enjoys a solo and chamber career, which has taken him around the globe, performing in many of the most prestigious concert platforms, including the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room in London.
His album of Liszt works was Daily Telegraph CD of the week and Editor’s Choice in Gramophone Magazine, and he is the only artist to record the complete Fauré Nocturnes, a disc which received excellent reception in The Sunday Times.
His most recent release is a disc of Doreen Carwithen and William Alwyn, also on Edition Peters Sounds.
