RESIDENTS in Seavington St Mary and Seavington St Michael are very much looking forward to their jubilee celebrations, including the fete and dog show on Saturday, June 4.

Newly elected Chair of the Parish Council, Matt Harley, said: “One of our Councillors had the idea back in February, so she called a village meeting.

“Out of that meeting a willing band of volunteers were formed who have come up with an afternoon of entertainment for all the family.

“We have been mindful of the rising costs of living and, because of sponsorship from local businesses, are able to offer lots of free entertainment for children, plus a few things for adults at reasonable rates. "We look forward to welcoming our villagers and those from further afield”.

The event will be rung in by the bells of St Mary’s Church, arena entertainment includes a parade of the Seavington Hounds, a kite demonstration, and a fun dog show.

Those who prefer to soak up the atmosphere over a cuppa will be entertained by the Wessex Women’s Choir and the Ilminster Ukulele Club.

There will be a superb Arts and Crafts tent where you will be able to buy personalised gifts, jewellery, wooden items, cakes, and preserves – the majority of which would have been made in the village.

Exhibitions of classic vehicles and recently discovered Seavington Photographs will add another dimension.

There will also be cream teas, a BBQ, and ice cream on offer, plus a bar.

Throughout the weekend there will be a Flower Festival at St Michael’s Church, a walking treasure hunt, quiz night, and a village walk. Plus, a street party on the Sunday.
