SOMERSET author Justin Newland will be giving a talk entitled ‘Whatever Happened to The Great Enlightenment’ at Yeovil Library later this month.

Justin will explore the secret history of the Great Enlightenment, that seething cauldron of ideas, and how this period shaped the modern industrial world.

He will also reveal how this period of profound historical change inspired his novel.

Author of The Coronation, Justin writes secret histories in which real events and historical personages are guided and motivated by numinous forces, that is “history with a supernatural twist.”

His other novels are The Genes of Isis, The Old Dragon’s Head, and The Abdication.

Justin gives library talks, does book signing events, and appears at literary festivals. He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio Bristol’s Thought for the Day.

A Doctorate in Mathematics, he lives with his partner in plain sight of the Mendip Hills.

The event will take place on Friday, April 29 at King George Street, Yeovil BA20 1PY from 3.30pm to 5pm on.
