TO CELEBRATE the 25th anniversary of World Book Day, staff from The Redstart Primary School (part of The Redstart Learning Partnership) entertained the children with their traditional annual book week play.
The staff dressed up to amuse the children with a script written by their very own Y6 teacher Mrs Evans.
All children from Y1-Y6 were invited to the main school hall to enjoy Redstart’s very own version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, complete with the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the White Rabbit and a very dramatic Mr Platt (Redstart’s Y5 teacher) dressed up as the Queen of Hearts.
The play itself involved lots of silly chases, cornflake throwing, water pistol fights, appalling singing, and topical references to current events.
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and there was lots of laughter and happiness.
The play consisted of three-morning episodes with lots of joyful audience participation.
Rebecca Collins, Head of School said: "After the last two years of lockdown, bubbles, remote learning and social distancing, it has been an absolute joy to get everyone back in the hall for the annual tradition of the Redstart book week play.
“The staff are excellent sports and take part in good humour. It was lovely to see the happiness on the children's faces as they enjoyed the staff's antics."
