AN 11-year-old boy is shaving his “beautiful locks” to raise £1000 for the children suffering in Ukraine.
Rowan, from Ilminster, came up with “his own idea” and decided to raise funds for Save the Children Ukraine after hearing news about the war.
His dad, Ade Lewis, said Rowan “was just wondering how he could help” and when he decided to shave his head left everyone “a bit shocked”.
But Mr Lewis also said: “I'm so proud of my 11-year old son. After reading about the children suffering in Ukraine, he decided to shave his head to raise money to help them and we set up a Just Giving page.
“He was really hoping that he could raise £100 for the charity but we had to increase that target from £100 to £250 within the first 10-minutes, then to £500 half an hour later.
“After just 12-hours Rowan has managed to raise almost £600 and donations are still coming in, so we have increased the target to £1000."
Rowan's sister Evie, 13, has also joined the initiative and she will also shave her head.
So far, Rowan and Evie have already raised more than £800.
The fundraising page on Just Giving can be reached by going to www.rowanlewis.co.uk where you will be redirected to Just Giving.
Rowan’s and Evie “beautiful locks” will be coming off on Thursday, March 10.
