COMMUNITY members in Chard are currently collecting much needed items to send to vulnerable people in Ukraine.
They have set up an emergency collection point at Bintang, Rackstile Lane, Wadeford, TA203AL.
All the goods will be taken to Izabela Witkowska who runs The Polish Shop, located on 4 Howard Row, Fore Street in Chard.
There are also other collection points to make donating easier for local people.
In Donyatt you can drop things off at 25 Donyatt Hill, Donyatt, Ilminster.
Currently the most important items that are required are:
- Blankets, space blankets, socks, gloves, scarves
- First aid items (bandages, sterile pads, guaze pads, eye pad dressing, triangular bandages, sterile wipes, safety pins, micro-porous tape, face masks, surgical gloves)
- Baby food, milk, bottles, dummies
- Long life or tinned food, pet food
- Sanitary products, toothbrushes, sanitiser
- Sturdy Boxes to transport items
Tesco in Chard has also set up a collection box at their store to send items to the Ukraine.
