THERE was a total of 215 new confirmed positive Covid test result reported in South Somerset yesterday (Monday, January 3).
In the week between December 28 and yesterday, 1,855 people had a confirmed positive test result, an increase of 76.8 per cent compared to the previous seven days.
By Sunday (January 2), the total number of vaccines given in the South Somerset district stood at:
140,291 people had been given a first dose;
131,429 people had been given a second dose;
104,778 people had been given a booster or third dose.
Across the South West region, 106 people with coronavirus went into hospital on Saturday (January 1).
Between December 26 and January 1, 914 went into hospital with coronavirus, an increase of 62.6 per cent compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 772 patients in hospital with coronavirus as of yesterday, with 64 of those on on 3 January 2022 a mechanical ventilator on 3 January 2022.
There were no deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported in South Somerset yesterday.
In the week between December 28 and January 3, there were two 2 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test reported in South Somerset.
