A NEW venture opened in Chard last Tuesday (November 16) in the former Morrison's building on Fore Street.
Stuart Bull has bought Chard Auctions to the town, which will hold auctions on the first Saturday of each month.
These will alternate between an antiques and collectables sale, followed by a general sale.
The first sale will take place on December 11, offering a range of jewellery, silverware, antiques, collectibles, sporting and quality vintage items.
Mr Bull, who also owns DP House Clearance and an antiques shop in Chard, is being supported by a panel of experts and a local auctioneer who has been practicing for more than 20 years.
"If you have a collection or single item that you have been considering selling, do get in touch," said Mr Bull.
"This is the perfect time to take advantage of the current popularity of both auction trading, and the trend in home renovations brought about by people’s desire to improve their living space after lockdown.
"Our expertise means that, in particular, your prized collection will be in safe hands.
“We pride ourselves on our trustworthy and knowledgeable approach, and reasonable, easily understood fees.
"We will always give you a credible appraisal of what your selling expectations can reasonably be, so that you can make an informed decision about whether an auction sale is right for you.
"If you are interested in buying, you will be made very welcome at the live auctions by our friendly staff who will guide you through the process if you are new to bidding.”
The general sale, which will start in March 2022, will provide an opportunity to purchase household items and furniture.
The Antiques and Collectibles Sales will also be held online via the Easy Live Auction platform where you can bid live from your phone or laptop.
Chard auction will be open for viewing days on December 9 and 10, with the first live auction on December 11.
To comply with Covid-19 safety measures, visitors will be asked to wear masks, use hand sanitiser provided, and numbers will be limited to allow for social distancing.
Consignments can be collected or accepted at 20 Fore Street in Chard (inside DP House Clearance).
