A BARGAIN store is set to open in Chard on Saturday (June 19).
The £1million Home Bargains shop on Boden Street will create 43 new jobs in the community.
The store will employ 49 team members in total, but this includes some staff and management who have transferred from other stores.
Ben Doyle, the new Chard store manager, said: “It is a huge honour to be opening our new Chard store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.
“Having started my Home Bargains journey just over three years ago as a supervisor, it is amazing to now be in this position.
"Helping to launch the new Boden Street store will be a huge accomplishment for both myself and my fantastic team.”
Home Bargains will also be donating £2,000 to Chard WATCH, a community interest company who engages with isolated adults.
Chard WATCH was founded in 2010 by members of the Chard International Peer Support Group.
Julie Matthews, CEO of Chard WATCH, added: “Chard WATCH is delighted to receive this donation from Home Bargains as every donation makes a huge difference to our project which grew from the grassroots within Chard.
"The donation will go to support our beneficiaries at our Thursday project which is held at Chard Rugby Club every week and we look forward to supporting Home Bargains as a new business within our community.”
The 13,207 square foot store is set to open at 8am on Saturday, offering a range of products including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.
