IF you fancy running but need that extra shove to get you out the front door, then hotfoot it to Chard Road Runners.
The club's 25 members represent a range of styles and talents, from serious competitors to social runners, and they are proud of their efforts in making newcomers welcome.
The club is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year and new members say hitting the road with like-minded people can boost your motivation and achievement.
At the club's base, at Chard Cricket Club, events secretary Simon Hall said: "There's a wealth of experience with the club at competitive level and social running.
"Most people find it hard to run on their own, especially in the beginning and we like to think we offer a warm welcome. It helps to take you to a level you perhaps would not expect to reach.
"There's a sense of camaraderie and there's a good social side to the club," he said.
As well as supporting local events like the Ilminster Lions 10k (taking place on Sunday, November 5), members jet off to races in far flung parts of the world.
Last weekend, four members finished a chilly Chicago Marathon in less than four hours - see below.
"It's good to wear the club colours and fly the flag for Chard," said Simon.
Back on home turf, the club meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings.
"If you are a bit nervous about coming out with a club, we can arrange for a run with one of the members," he added.
And as the club develops further, there is even an intention to hold a race in Chard next year.
* Completing the Chicago Marathon were members Simon Hall (3:44:06), Mike Preece (3:35:12), Maria Worth (3:35:55), and Nina Preece (3:57:19).
* IF you are interested in joining the club, turn up to a Tuesday training session at Chard Cricket Club at 7pm or call Simon Hall on 01460-61731.
