A CONSULTATION event will be held at Crewkerne town hall later today (Jan 5) for people to have their say about the future of under-threat libraries at Ilminster and South Petherton.
The two libraries look set to close as part of Somerset County Council’s cost-cutting drive.
The Conservative-led authority has laid out a plan to chop 25 per cent of its libraries budget which could see as many 20 libraries across the county being closed in 12 months.
Now people will today be given the chance to have their say on the proposals for a new-look library service for Somerset.
There have been campaigns launched in Ilminster and South Petherton to try and save their libraries from closure.
County council staff will be on hand today from 5pm to 8pm at Crewkerne town hall to answer questions and to listen to views during the consultation event.
