I put National Downshifting Week UK together 3 years ago and it has gone from strength to strength.

NDW (as I fondly term her), is an awareness campaign designed to help you slow down your pace and 'lean towards the green'.

This year saw just under 11,000 visitors to the website from 96 countries and 24 American States - which I am very proud of!

As the campaign continues to generate such a great interest and following in the US and after much encouragement from friends and green groups over there, I decided it would be nice to 'spotlight' a week with a focus on simple, green living, just for them!

And so was born National Downshifting Week USA.

I got together with a friend involved in running a site called 'Conscious Consuming' and she helped me give the whole thing an American flavour (or should I say, flavor...).

The end result of which was enjoyed between July 7th and 13th and I thought I would post Susan's diary entries to give you further inspiration to help you all 'Slow Down and Green Up'!

Click on my blog entries here from tomorrow (the 7th July) and don't forget to say or read everything with an appropriate accent.

...I promise to let you know when I get that call to go on Oprah to talk about it...
