FANCY a pizza on the go why not try Slice of Salerno? Ilminster’s very own pizza restaurant on wheels.
Slice of Salerno provides a sustainable portable dining experience, serving mouth-watering woodfired pizza and coffee as a part of the Ilminster market that takes place every Thursday from 9am to 7pm.
This week, whilst I was feeling especially peckish during my lunch break, I decided to treat myself by getting the Slice of Salerno fresh veggie pizza for £11.
This huge pizza includes mushroom, green peppers, basil leaves and sweet corn on top of the fresh mozzarella cheese and homemade tomato sauce.
Whilst £11 for a pizza is a little on the pricey side, the massive portion size, quality ingredients and the fact that it was made and woodfired right in front of me more than made up for the price.
In this case the old adage "you get what you pay for" rings true. Especially since through investing in this pizza you are also supporting a local business.
The service was fast too. Overall, despite a queue of others waiting for their pizza too I only had to wait ten minutes for a piping hot pizza cooked to order.
Admittedly, part of the crust of my pizza was a little burnt due to the heat of the woodfire oven but other than that the pizza was truly scrumptious.
I am a massive pizza lover, and veggies are my go-to topping so I was delighted to have my favourite treat made fresh for me and event better, Slice of Salerno was parked basically opposite my house.
The vegetables tasted fresh, and the pizza was the perfect blend of moist, chewy and crunchy.
In an ideal world there would also be more of a drink selection than just coffee, maybe a cup of tea too or a soft drink?
Overall, this is for sure a pizza place I suggest that everyone sinks their teeth into. I can for sure see myself revisiting Slice of Salerno when I next need my next pizza fix.
